Castleisland Sinn Féin, alongside local residents and people from across the county, including those of different political affiliations, gathered to show solidarity with the people of Palestine at The Fountain in Castleisland on Saturday.

“Sinn Féin has consistently supported the Palestinian cause. In line with this stance, the party introduced the Restricted Financial Measures – State of Israel – Bill 2025 in the Dáil last week.

This legislation seeks to ban the Central Bank of Ireland from facilitating the sale of Israeli bonds throughout the European Union,” according to a post gathering party statement.

Israeli War Bonds

“The bill gives the Minister for Finance explicit authority to prevent Israel from using Ireland as a financial conduit to raise funds in Europe, funds that contribute to military actions resulting in the deaths of civilians, including children.

“We have the means to stop the sale of Israeli war bonds across the EU. Ireland should never have been involved in this, and now we have the power to end it,” the statement ended.
