Mollie Reveals Important Sunflower Day Date for Castleisland – Volunteer Collectors Needed

Little Mollie Fleming with a vivid reminder that the coming Friday, June 6th is Sunflower Day in Castleisland and that volunteer collectors would be appreciated and welcomed.

On the coming Friday June 6th members and volunteers will take to the streets of Castleisland to raise much needed funds for Kerry Hospice Foundation.

Sunflower Day is one of the biggest fundraisers each year for the charity and it will take place nationwide with many areas collecting on both June 6th and 7th.

As always there will be a range of goods in exchange for donations on the day, choose from trolley fobs, biros, shopping bags and much more.

Collection Points

Castleisland collectors will be stationed at the Post Office and Centra Supermarket, Main Street; Garvey’s SuperValu and at Aldi.

“All funds raised by our volunteers will go directly to the Kerry Hospice Foundation. If anyone has a spare hour on June 6th or 7th please contact any of the members or Shanahan’s Pharmacy on 066 71 41225,” said the recent reinstalled PRO Liz Galwey.

The planned extension of five new rooms to the palliative care centre and upgrading of the existing building is expected to commence in the coming months.

“It’s hoped that this work will be complete by the end of 2026. The project is expected to cost in the region of €6.5m – all of which needs to be raised by Kerry Hospice Foundation and its various countywide branches.

Ring Cyclists Wanted

Kerry Hospice is also calling for cycling enthusiasts to sign up for this years Ring of Kerry Cycle with the Kerry Hospice Foundation as your chosen charity.

The cycle is just over a month away now and it takes place on Saturday, July 5th. Again, the Shanahan Pharmacy number can be your first port of call if you’re taking on the ring cycle: 066 71 41225.
