The Hills are Alive
With the sounds of music. It’s Con Curtin time. Get your glad rags dusted off and get to the village for an epic concert on Friday night.
The line up of events around the parish over the weekend will suit all tastes. From busking, to historic talks, to ceilis, get busy having fun.
The two pubs are offering the creme de la creme of Irish traditional music too. Thanks to the wonderful committee and volunteers who put so much time and effort into bringing this celebratory festival to life each year. We are so grateful.
Brosna Boys Epic Win Over Desmonds
Well done to our local lads who pulled off an epic win against Desmonds. A wonderful performance by one and all.
Wishing them best of luck in their next game.
Inspirational David Clifford
The county seniors had a great win against Cavan. Is there anyone as inspirational as David Clifford ? He found the net three times in the game.
He wears his greatness with a lightness that highlights his maturity and sincerity. We salute you.
The Kerry minors gave all of our hearts a good old work out as they took on Mayo in the All Ireland semi final. The outcome was only resolved in the dying seconds of injury time when the captain showed what made him such a worthy choice for the role as he popped over the winning point.
We wish best of luck to the seniors against Armagh at the weekend and to the minors who face Tyrone in their Final.
Hats Off to Sheila
Congratulations to Mrs Sheila Casey who was named among the best dressed at the Listowel Races lately.
Bringing her own sparkling flair to the occasion, topped off with a hat created by our own Teresa Lenihan, Sheila is an amazing lady who showcases her individuality with confidence. Congratulations again and keep on sparkling.
Thought for The Week
Play time. With the National Schools closing this week, it’s time for the lively young citizens of the parish to get out and about and play.
Time to shake off the yoke of formal education and learn equally valuable lessons, namely, how to move your body, create games, and to joyfully embrace each day of freedom. And for all of us old fogeys, it’s time to remember that we can still play ourselves. In our own personal way we can go off to paddle in Ballybunion, have a good laugh with friends, take on some new, exciting creative challenges. There’s an old saying that we stop playing when we become old but really we become old when we stop playing. Keep that magical youthful spark alive and find fun in the everyday events.
That child within each of us holds the key to good health and happy relationships. Give it free rein this summer.
