Busy Start to 2017 In Abbeyfeale

Abbeyfeale activity for the new year will get under way with Benny Thade McCarthy's (left) Rambling House at Fr. Casey's GAA Clubhouse on January 19th while former All-Ireland champion singer, Philip Enright will get the ??? Singers' Club underway on January 6th in The Ramble Inn.

Abbeyfeale’s Singing Club

West Limerick singing club monthly singing session take place on the first Friday of every month in the Ramble Inn Bar, Abbeyfeale.  Next Friday, January 6th will start the 2017 season.

Benny Thade’s Rambling House

Takes place at Fr. Casey’s Clubhouse on the third Thursday of each month, the first one of the New Year will be held on Thursday, January 19.

Dance In Rathkeale House Hotel

A fundraising dance for WL102fm will be held in Rathkeale House Hotel on Wednesday night, January 4 with music by Peter Burke.  There will be a special guest appearance by singer Willie Relihan.  Doors open 8.30pm.

St. Ita’s Night

The annual celebration in honour of St. Ita culminates with dinner and  dancing to Eddie Lee in Raheenagh Hall on Sunday, January 15.  Meal served 8pm. Tickets must be booked in advance from Mary Anglam 086 1649099.  A great night guaranteed.

Connie Harnett Memorial Swim

They are a hardy bunch around Abbeyfeale when you see the crowd who turned out in such numbers for the annual Connie Harnett Memorial Swim in Ballybunion on New Year’s Day last year. This New Year’s Day event is a fundraiser organised by Connie’s wife and family in honour of the popular cattle dealer from Abbeyfeale who died in 2014. Funds raised are going to Crumlin Children’s Hospital and to the Hope Foundation. For more information on tomorrow’s swim please contact: 086 315 1447.

St. Ita’s Wrenboys

The Wrenboys would like to say a sincere thank you to all who welcomed them into their homes over Christmas.  Funds raised go to local man Fr. Tim Galvin who has just returned to his parish in war torn South Sudan.  A big thank you from the Wrenboys to Mossie Dee and Paddy Heffernan who retired this year and welcome to the new musicians who joined.

Glórach Notes

It’s full steam ahead we get ready for our staging of the John B Keane play The Highest House on the Mountain.  This classic play will be opening at the Glórach Theatre on Thursday, January 12 with further shows on the 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 and 22.  Looking forward to seeing ye there.

After School Service

 Limerick Toastmasters

Toastmasters will continue on the first and third Wednesday every month until May 2017. Next meeting Wednesday, January 18 at the Desmond Complex, Newcastle West from 8-10pm.  Further information 087 79 72 855.

Toastmasters provide you with the tools to become a confident speaker in a safe caring environment where everyone is on the same path.  Great for anyone who finds it hard to stand up in public and get their opinion across.

 New Toastmaster Club In Listowel
