When Anne and Carol Nash along with Mary Kiely and Mary Scanlon began relaxing into their retirement little did they realise that what began as a part-time project in 2017 would take on a life of its own.

Two years later, with over three hundred pages and 400 incredible photographs the monumental ‘Story of Brosna GAA’ is about to make its debut!
130 Year Span
Spanning 130 years from 1888 to 2018, with information gathered from places as far removed as Australia and the Sudan, there are countless stories that draw together the proud GAA history of our parish.
From its very modest beginnings in 1888, through the years of conflict in Ireland and culminating in our All Ireland Junior win in Croke Park. The book is a treasure trove of stories about great players and characters who not only graced the field for their Parish Club but who went on to bring great glory to clubs both nationally and internationally.
Included are the lesser known stories of our winning camogie team of the 1970s.
Only Senior Medal
The story of our Parish’s only Senior Footballing All Ireland winning medal (so far) for the talented Emily Woods. Handballing greats who practiced and played at our very own handball alley. Along with brilliant articles about the many individuals who worked in committee and behind the scenes to support the club over the century. It’s a page-turner.
Remarkable among all of these stories are the many never-before-seen photographs generously shared by so many people at home and abroad.
Historic Photographs and Stories
It’s pretty certain that there isn’t a house or familyin the parish who doesn’t have a relation mentioned somewhere among the pages of this attractive book.
And it’s not all GAA …. Each decade of the book contains historic photographs and stories about key entertaining events from parish life.

This handsome, hard-covered book produced to the highest quality is an heirloom piece. Something to be studied with pleasure and returned to again and again.
Brosna is a great parish and it deserves a great book to tell its story. ‘The Story of Brosna GAA’ is that very book.
The launch of this fabulous book is taking place in The Hall, Brosna on 26th July at 8pm by Kerry legends, Eoin ‘Bomber’ Liston and Seán Walsh.
