New Comhaltas Branch for Brosna

Due to the unforeseen closure of Comhaltas Naomh Chiarán a new branch was set up in Brosna at a meeting in the hall there recently. The aim of the new branch is to provide opportunities for the people of the parish and surrounding areas to enjoy and participate in Irish dance, traditional music and song.

Brosna Comhaltas is currently providing music lessons in the Rambling House with Philip Shine.

These classes will continue on November the 6th at 7pm for advanced members and 7.30pm for new members, teenagers and adults. Sean nós dancing and set dancing classes are being provided also by the branch under Anne-Marie Nelligan on Fridays  and Mary Philpott on Mondays.

“Committee members and participants in these classes will be required to become Comhaltas members to avail of branch insurance. This membership will also allow participants to enter Comhaltas competitions at a lower entry fee.  There are two competitions coming up: Ceol an Geimhridh agus Sult Na nOg,” said branch member, Daniel Woods.

Membership for the coming season of 2014/2015 are now due: €20.00 for a family, €12.00 for seniors and €6.00 for juniors. Membership forms are available from Síobhán Lenihan, secretary or from  Joanne Curtin, assistant secretary.

Brosna Comhaltas is open to new members from surrounding parishes. The committee welcomes any suggestions for future classes for adults or children.

The first full meeting of Brosna Comhaltas will take place in the Brosna Hall at 3.15pm, November 3rd. All welcome. Fundraising Committee members:
