Just got a call from Weeshie Fogarty now and he ‘weeshed’ to alert Castleisland listeners to his In Conversation slot on Radio Kerry this evening between 6pm and 7pm .
Earlier this year he and Caherciveen videographer, Christy Riordan went on a memorable visit to Chicago at the invitation of Gaelic Park and The Kerry Association there.
“It was an amazing experience as I met with a multitude of Irish/Kerry emigrants from far and wide. I conducted a huge amount of Interviews with some wonderful people and Irish Americans whose parents had left for Chicago in the 40/50s,” said Weeshie building up for the local punch-line.
“It was very special to sit with all these exemplary people and recount their lives in the Windy City and you will hear them shortly in both Terrace Talk and In Conversation in special series of programs ‘Chicago Calling.’ I interviewed a retired judge, a 100 year old Kerry man. Another man who is the head of one of the biggest Unions in America and his grandfather had emigrated in the early part of the century from Castleisland,” said a by now breathless Weeshie. In Conversation on Radio Kerry at 6pm.
