The draw for the Castleisland Desmonds Ladies Gaelic Football Club Christmas Raffle was held on an evening just before Christmas and there were 67 prizes and an equal number of winners announced.
The raffle ticket sales, which began back in September, was anchored and conducted by Mary Geaney at her family premises at No. 65 Main Street. She was ably assisted by Gerard Murphy, Aileen Lynch, Denis Kerin, Marie Twomey, Fiona Griffin, Hanna Herlihy and more.
“In addition to the sponsors named in the list of prizes we would also like to thank the following sponsors who made donations: Bernard Tangney; Lyons Insurance; Jackie Reidy; Barry’s Tea; Galvin Murphy Hooper Dolan; Elizabeth Twomey John Reidy; Jack Shanahan; Castle Meats,” said Gerdie Murphy.
There is no final tally for the money raised in the 2021 raffle but it is expected to substantially outstrip the estimated €5,000 taken in during in the 2020 street fundraiser.
