Up-cycling at its Utmost for Castleisland Community College Students!

Castleisland Community College engineering students with their teacher, Bill Keane with: David Peskett, Edward Roche, Oileán Walsh, Jack Joy and Joel Smith.

Engineering students at Castleisland Community College undertook a practical up-cycling project with supervision from their engineering teacher Bill Keane.

They collected left over and broken car parts from local mechanics and up-cycled them into lamps which can now be used in their own homes.

The students used cam shafts, pistons, break discs and conrods.

Welding and Lamp-Making

They practiced their welding skills which is part of the Leaving Certificate Course to join the parts together to make their lamps.

They were then painted and had a plug socket attached to them. A fantastic example of sustainability!
