McAuliffe Pig Farms, one of Ireland’s leading enterprises, is proud to announce the signing of a memorandum of association with the University of Limerick.
This landmark partnership will provide the university’s proposed veterinary school with exclusive access to McAuliffe’s state-of-the-art farm facilities, marking a significant step forward in the education and training of Ireland’s future veterinarians.
The collaboration will see McAuliffe Pig Farms become a central resource for the veterinary school’s practical training modules, offering students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a real-world agricultural setting.
High Welfare Pigs Herd
The farm’s extensive operations, which include high health and high welfare pigs herd, advanced biosecurity measures, and sustainable farming initiatives, will serve as a comprehensive learning environment for students.
“We’re delighted to partner with the University of Limerick on this important initiative,” said Shane McAuliffe.
“As a family-owned business, deeply rooted in the community, we believe in supporting the next generation of veterinarians who will play a critical role in the future of animal health and welfare.
Aspects of Veterinary Science
“Our farms will provide students with invaluable exposure to the practical aspects of veterinary science, particularly in the context of pig farming, which is a significant part of Ireland’s agricultural sector,” Shane added.
The University of Limerick’s proposed veterinary school is set to be a pioneering institution in veterinary education. It aims to address the growing demand for veterinary professionals in Ireland and beyond.
The partnership with McAuliffe Pig Farms will enhance the curriculum by integrating applied learning with academic study, ensuring that graduates are well-equipped to meet the challenges of modern veterinary practice.
McAuliffes – Leaders in the Industry
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with McAuliffe Pig Farms, a leader in the industry with a strong commitment to excellence and innovation,” said Professor Sean Arkins, who leads the UL Veterinary Proposal.
“This partnership will not only enrich our students’ educational experience but also strengthen the ties between academia and the agricultural community by fostering a shared commitment to the highest standards of animal care,” said Mr. Arkins.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The agreement underscores McAuliffe Pig Farm’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and its ongoing efforts to contribute positively to the local community and the broader agricultural industry.
