After an eleven night run of Wake In The West members of the Sliabh Luachra Drama Group were delighted to present a cheque for €3,000 to the Kerry/Cork Health link bus and one for €1,000 to Oilean Beo in Castleisland. The

presentations were made on Monday night at the Scartaglin Heritage Centre.
“These two local charities are very close to our hearts and we know that the money will be put to great use. We are also working with our local development group / Tidy Towns here in Scartaglin. We are one of the sponsors for the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt and we are also sponsoring a bench for the village green,” said drama group spokesperson, Moira Hughes.
“All this would not be possible without the support of the people who come year after year to our annual productions. This year’s run exceeded all expectations and we really appreciated the support of these people from all parts of Kerry

and beyond! We are extremely fortunate to have such a wonderful drama group also and without our front of house/back stage, kitchen staff, the men who helped with the car parking and the local
media we would not be in such a fortunate position to help out with these fine charities,” said Moira.
The grease paint and the props may be in the store but they’re not done with yet. The demand, which fuelled the eleven-night-run of the play, is still as strong as ever.
The group is advising anyone who may have missed all eleven stagings in Scart to watch out for an announcement around September. “There may be one last great weekend in this hilarious comedy,” Moira concluded.
