A successful and positive family learning project has just been completed at the Castleisland Family Resource Centre. Delivered under the title ‘Story Sacks’; its aim is to foster and encourage learning within the home. A story sack is a large cloth bag containing a favourite children’s book with supporting materials. It’s developed by the parents involved under the guidance of Kerry Education & Training Board tutor, Jacqui Hall.

The materials created stimulate language activities and make reading a more memorable and enjoyable experience. Parents involved in the project expressed how beneficial the project has been for them.

“This family learning project is delivered under the remit of the board. Following the presentation of certificates the participants presented their work to Bright Beginnings Pre-School much to the delight of children,” said Bright Beginnings founder member, Liz Galwey.
