A day filled with tea, coffee, friends and laughter has thus far raised €760 for the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.
The Alzheimer’s Tea-Day was hosted by Liz Galwey on Thursday, May 1, in Church Street, Castleisland and her trainee journalist daughter, Amber kept tabs on the day while helping to raise funds for the cause.
It was a fun day that saw people come together, share stories, meet their neighbours and enjoy each other’s company and all for a very good cause.
It is the fourth year that such a Tea-Day has been held in Galwey Auctioneers and the generosity shown means so much to Liz and her family – as it is a cause they hold dear.
“I am once again bowled over by the generosity of people. We had a wonderful day and I can’t thank everyone enough for supporting our Tea Day, all those who called in and those who sent donations before and after. Their contributions mean so much and their company made the day so special,” said Liz.
Memories were shared amongst visitors and sounds of laughter circulated throughout the day. The home baking brought some people back for a second visit. But it was the china tea cups that were the main highlight, with some even posing to have their picture taken with the beautiful decor!
All proceeds from the day will go to the Homecare section of the Kerry Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.
