Active Kingdom Summer Camp Coming Your Way

Active Kingdom Summer Camps are in full swing right now and there will be one at a field near you very soon. In fact the Castleisland version will be run at the Desmonds GAA grounds from Tuesday, August 5th to Saturday 9th. To book a place and to look up the range of activities you can check out the contact details at the end of this piece. You can gauge from the photographs that there is a range of activity available and there seems to be a fun theme running riot through it.

Camps have already been conducted in:  Ardfert, Ballybrown in Limerick and in Castlegregory.

“During the camps the kids participate in a wide array of activities which change daily. From Monday to Wednesday they take part in half day sessions of:  Orienteering, Athletics, Rounders, Gaelic Football, Olympic Handball and Ultimate Frisbee. On Thursday they complete a number of team building challenges and an obstacle course and finally on the Friday the kids participate in a competition day of all of the previous sport,” said course tutor, Pádraig Murphy a Killorglin native and well known sports coach in the Castleisland area.

“The aim of the summer camp is to give kids a positive exposure to sport and physical activity through offering a variety of types of disciplines.  Active Kingdom staff bring with them a mass of expertise in sports coaching and physical education teaching and they use this experience to plan and deliver effective learning experiences for kids attending the camp. Active Kingdom staff understand that there is a sport or activity for everyone and they endeavour to help kids realise their proficiency in various activities and hope that participating in these will lead to lifelong engagement in sport and physical activity,” said Pádraig.

Active Kingdom members have been busy this summer with their Multi Activity School Tours just having finished in June and they will be holding Summer Camps in Killorglin and Castleisland in the coming weeks.
