It’s not a long, long way from Clare to here anymore. Luxury coaches and good roads have shortened the trip considerably. Marie Walsh has sent a note about her next day-trip and it’s to Lisdoonvarna / The Cliffs of Moher on Tuesday, September 9th. The coach will depart Castleisland at 8am. from Tralee at 8.20am and from Listowel 8.45am. The idea may have sprung from a women’s group in the area here but men do take part in the trips and they’re most welcome to continue to do so. “The itinerary on any of our trips is designed to appeal to men and women and we’re delighted that more men are travelling with us. It’s a lovely relaxed day out with every detail planned for you and you’re picked up and dropped off morning and evening,” said Marie. On the September 9th day-trip there will be a Tea/coffee/scone break on the route. Dancing starts in Lisdoon at 12 noon and a three-course dinner will be provided at 6pm. The all-in cost of the trip is €55 and the amount must be paid in full before Friday, September 5th.  Marie has also thrown in a date for your diary: The National Ploughing Championships, Co. Laois on Tuesday, September 23rd. Coach only €25. On their recent trip to Cobh the group visited several historic sites:

“Our first destination was The Jameson Experience, The Old Distillery in Midleton. It went down a treat and so did the whiskey tastings at the end of the tour. One of our male travelers, to his delight, won a bottle of Jameson.  Next we toured to the beautiful harbour side town of Cobh and discovered its unique origins, its history and legacies,” said Marie. “We discovered the story of Annie Moore, the first emigrant processed at Ellis Island. We lunched at The Water’s Edge Hotel and  sampled a few glasses of wine. Our next stop was to the Titanic Experience. We traced the footsteps of the 123 Queenstown passengers who boarded the Titanic from Cobh. We took a step back in time and experienced life on board. We discovered the facts surrounding the tragic sinking of Titanic. A short stop off in Killarney to sample some fine Irish music ended our tour,” said the enthusiastic organiser.

Early booking is necessary for both trips. If you’re interested in going , you’re invited to contact, Marie Walsh on 086 1032436
