Castleisland and District Culture and Heritage Society Presents: Dr Tim Horgan who will deliver a lecture at St. Patrick’s Boys’ Secondary School, College Road, Castleisland on Tuesday night,  November 11th at 7.30pm.

The theme of the lectured will be:  The Men Behind Our Monuments and Dr. Horgan will focus in on the lives of the likes of: Commandant Jerh O’Leary of Scartaglin; Lieutenant Tom Fleming of Currow and Captain Jim Hickey of Ballinattin, Knocknagoshel. 

Dr. Horgan is revisiting the Castleisland Heritage Society to speak about some of the men to whom our local monuments are erected. He is from Tralee and is an ophthalmologist in Kerry General Hospital as well as local Kerry historian.

He is co-editor of the book The Men Will Talk To Me – Kerry Interviews with Ernie O’Malley. Tim’s grandmother was secretary to both Ernie OMalley and Liam Lynch.  All are welcome to attend; non-members are invited to make a small donation to the society on the night.
