After a white and early start to this morning, things look like they’re picking up with bright spells breaking out here in Castleisland at least.

However, the Met Éireann outlook for the next couple of days looks anything but promising.

Very cold and blustery. Sunny spells but some wintry showers too, with moderate accumulations locally. Highs of only 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, in fresh and gusty southwesterly winds.

Cold tonight with long clear spells but further wintry showers about – especially in the west. Ongoing threat of thunder. Lows of 0 to minus 3 degrees Celsius, with frost and icy patches developing. Southwest winds be fresh at times.

TCold again tomorrow with good sunny spells and scattered wintry showers, most frequent in the west. Further accumulations to begin. Drier for a time with sunny spells. Risk of thunder. Becoming windy too in strong and gusty westerly winds. Highest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.
