Details of the fourth annual Lee-Strand sponsored ‘Kingdom Come 10 Mile and 5k Road Race’ were launched at the An Riocht track in Castleisland last evening.
The event is scheduled this year for Sunday, May 17th.
The event is set to bring mass participation road running to the streets of Castleisland yet again – going on last year’s entry of over 500 athletes and runners of various abilities.
Race organisers stress that the event is open to all, regardless of ability. It has attracted some top runners in the past and this year will be no different with some of the county and provinces leading athletes marking the date in their calendar.
“The main body of participants will be those with their own personal goals, with many taking on either the 5k or 10 miles for the first time.  There has been 150+ people taking to the track for the successful Couch-to-5k programme in preparation for the event, with another group training to take on the 10 miles,” said An Riocht manager, Kate McSweeney.

The first 300 finishers in the 10 mile event will receive a souvenir sports bag and all finishers will receive the all important official race medal to start, or indeed add to, their collection.
“An Ríocht AC is delighted to announce that Lee Strand has come on board as sponsors for the fourth consecutive running of the event. Their dedication to the athletics in the area has been crucial to the continued success of this flagship event,” said Ms. McSweeney.
Lee Strand’s marketing manager, Teresa Walker brought several slabs of drink – health inducing drink – to the launch. She conducted market research right on the front-line as Couch-to-5K participants were coming off the track.
The taste-test response came back positive to the Lee Strand Protein+Milk with 25g of Protein and half the fat. It has muscle recovery and development among its attributes and it’s Kerry made.
A range of flavors are being developed and the fore-runner, Vanilla represented all the possibilities at the launch in Castleisland last night.
