The inaugural Danny Broderick Memorial Doubles Darts Tournament was held at The Half Barrel Bar at Upper Main Street here in Castleisland on Sunday.
“A great day was had by all in the ‘Darts Circle’ with over 48 players in attendance. These varied from the novice to the elite in Kerry and beyond. It was the first year the Broderick family decided to organise this tournament in memory of their late father, Danny,” said Half Barrel local, J.J. Reidy.
“This tournament is now bound to be an annual event. Judging by the turnout on the day it was well supported by all including players and sponsors.  Local shops and businesses supported the event with spot prizes and gift vouchers and hampers and there was complimentary food available for all on the evening,” said JJ.
Tournament and shield winners were: Dale McCarthy, Milltown and Richard O’Connor from Killorglin and they defeated the West Limerick pairing of Jerh Lacey and Hesler O’Connor in a 5-3 thrilling final.
For those looking for the gender balance element of the tournament, no women applied. Maybe next year.
