Cllr. John Brassil, Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council will launch the new Kerry Library Toy & Sensory Resources collection at Castleisland Library on Wednesday, 6th May at 11a.m. The collection includes games, learning and sensory resources and is designed to offer support to children with learning difficulties, disabilities or more significant needs.
Although based at Castleisland Library, an illustrated catalogue of the specialised collection of toys and sensory resources has been printed and this is available at libraries throughout the county and is also viewable online the link below.
Items in the catalogue can be borrowed directly from Castleisland Library, requested or renewed online and collected by the borrower at their nearest branch library. Three items can be borrowed at any one time for a 21 day loan period.
Loans can be extended by renewing items online, by phone or in person.
The Toys and Sensory Resources Collection is designed to compliment quality of life services for children and offer support for the use of the toys and sensory resources through professional partnerships between Kerry Library and Health Care Professionals.
Registration to borrow from the collection requires a letter of referral from an occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, physiotherapist or psychologist working in Kerry.
Membership is free to any parent who can provide the referral letter.
