Two hundred and fifty people participated in the inaugural B WILDERED ‘The John Lenihan Wilderness Challenge’ sponsored by Lee Strand Protein+ Milk on Saturday.
Participants tested their fitness limits in Kerry’s ultimate fitness challenge set in the wilderness of Glanageenty in Ballymacelligott. All participants received a B WILDERED finisher’s mug, medal, goody bag, refreshments and enjoyed a post-party BBQ.

B Wildered Will B Back
“Lee Strand is delighted to sponsor B WILDERED. The event was a great success and B Wildered will be back again next year. We would like to thank John Lenihan and Joe O’Connor for creating a magnificent challenge. All proceeds from the event will go towards the development of a new juvenile training pitch for Ballymacelligott GAA Club boys and girls,” said John O’Sullivan General Manager, Lee Strand at the event on Saturday.  The course was designed by running legend, John Lenihan in conjunction with Joe O’Connor, Nisus Fitness.

Ultimate Challenge
John Lenihan trained in Glanageenty to achieve peak fitness when he became the World Mountain Running Champion in 1991.
Joe O’Connor, Nisus Fitness is the Fitness and Performance Expert on RTE’s Ireland’s Fittest Family. The experience of both individuals culminated in the ultimate challenge over a 7km route of hill and trail running, obstacle courses and a little influence of the TV Show Ireland’s Fittest Families.
A great triumph for Gleenageenty and John Lenihan and Joe O’Connor. It must be particularly pleasing for John Lenihan after the years of back-breaking work which has gone into the development of the area.
“The community in Ballymacelligott really pulled out all the stops for this event on Saturday. Tom and Kathleen Herlihy couldn’t have done any more in catering and facilitating all that was going on. The people in the GAA club and all the volunteers made the whole effort so worthwhile,” said Lee Strand marketing manager, Teresa Walker.
