The death has been announced of Paddy Reidy, Tullig, Castleisland.
A native of Cordal, Paddy played football with his local team before emigration forced him and many of his peers to travel abroad for work.
Paddy found work and a Gaelic Football team to play with in his adopted Birmingham in the UK in the early 1960s. On his return home he worked at the Ballyegan based, Buckley’s Quarry which later became John A Woods’ on the Tralee Road.
Cordal, Kerry and Castleisland football matters were Paddy’s hobbies in recent years and he enjoyed a pint or two in The Half Barrel, The Castle Tavern and, at the other end of town, in The Poet’s Inn and The Fountain Bar. May God be good to him. The announcement and arrangements are as follows:

Patrick (Paddy) Reidy, Tullig, Castleisland and late of Glenlarhan, Cordal, May 29th 2015. Unexpectedly at his residence. Sadly missed by his wife Mary (Keane), his family Debra, P.J. and Mark, son-in-law Danny, daughter-in-law Eimear, 7 grandchildren, brothers, sisters, all extended family, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Reposing at Tangney’s Funeral Home, Castleisland on Sunday evening from 5pm to 7pm, followed by removal to Castleisland Parish Church. Requiem Mass on Monday at 11am. Burial afterwards in St John’s Cemetery, Castleisland.
