The death has just been announced of Michael ‘Mikey Mac’ McAuliffe, Glounsharoon, Castleisland.

June 16th 2015, suddenly at his residence. sadly missed by his loving wife Kit, sons David and Tim, daughter-in-law Maura, his beloved grandchildren Colm, Moya and Julie, sisters: Sheila, Peggy, Phyllis and Kathleen, brothers-in-law, all extended family, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of friends.

Mikey (81) was the heart and soul of Castleisland Day Care Centre since he first attended there over a decade ago.

He has featured on two of the fundraising CDs released by the centre over the past few years. His ‘Don’t Cry Joni’ duet with staff member, Rita McCarthy was a great hit at centre parties and outings.

He was present at the day care centre for two of its greatest visits in recent years. Last August when super-star, Daniel O’Donnell surprised the centre with a visit he posed with Mikey. Mikey was there again last Ash Wednesday to proudly receive and hold the Sam Maguire Cup with his friends at the centre.
