Thirty four more Munster Community Games Gold Medals came back to Castleisland after a successful provincial finals day in Limerick on Saturday.

Bríd Kenny sent the report and photographs.

The boys’ U-15 Badminton title was won by a team of: Josh Horan, Peter Burke, Kevin Keane and Dylan Browne when they defeated Tipperary in the final to win gold.

The Castleisland team U-16 girls’ Basketball team represented Kerry in U.L arena in the finals.

The girls opened their campaign by defeating Quinn/ Clooney from Clare in the semi-final. On a roll, they then defeated Gurranabraher from Cork in a thrilling final. Both sides were very strong. However, the Castleisland girls battled hard to come out the worthy winners with a ten point lead.

Strong defence work and vital scores from Kayla O’Connor and Siobhan Collins saw the Castleisland team surge ahead. It was a very exciting and intense final and the girls battled to the end and came out on top. Game turning scores also came from Nicole Downey, Brid Moriarty, Labhaoise Walmsley and Sarah O’ Sullivan. Well done to the girls and their coaches Denny Porter, George O Connor and Aoife Nolan.

The Castleisland U-13 Girls were straight into the Munster final on Saturday against our neighbors Abbeyfeale of Limerick, this was a tight game to start with but once the girls got settled they pulled away and ran out comfortable winners.

The three teams will now go onto represent Castleisland/Kerry/Munster in the All Ireland Finals on August 21st in Athlone. We wish them all the best.
