Independent Kerry TD Deputy Tom Fleming is calling on Government Ministers to ease the continuing adverse conditions and huge financial losses facing the farming community.
He has requested Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney to urgently introduce measures that will stabilise the market situation with regard to the drastic reduction in milk prices and ensure there are no further reduction in milk prices.
He has also called on the Minister for Finance Michael Noonan to introduce measures similar to France to alleviate the drastic reduction in milk prices in which Dairy farmers are predicted to lose over €500 million in 2015 and the French initiative proposed is to delay the payment of income tax for three months to supports its farmers and will he introduce a similar imitative to help producers cope with the falling prices.
