Castleisland Chamber Alliance has been formed after a predicted process of three public meetings.
The aim of the alliance is to facilitate the development and promotion of Castleisland. And the public meetings had been facilitated by Mayor of Killarney Municipal Area, Cllr. Bobby O’Connell and Niamh O’Sullivan, Killarney Municipal District Officer, Kerry County Council. These meetings were chaired by Michael John Kearney.
The initial meeting on September 15th heard advice on the formation of a similar body in Killorglin and Ger Counihan and Trudy O’Sullivan told the gathering that it may well take three meetings or more to create the desired alliance.
The Chamber Alliance consists of representatives from all sectors of the community who were appointed after a public nomination process. Following the first full meeting of the chamber at Walsh Colour Print on Thursday night, Patricia Walsh was appointed chairperson.
Ted Kenny has stepped into the role of secretary with Jeremy Burke as P.R.O. While Mark McElligott and Brian O’Sullivan have been appointed as joint treasurers.
The Chamber Alliance will devise an action plan for Castleisland based on feedback from the recent public meetings and will work with local groups and businesses to implement the plan.
The Chamber Alliance also plans to meet with both local councilors and TDs to demand greater support for the Castleisland area. We wish them luck.
