Along with providing a day of great family fun, the organisers are ensuring availability of the widest range of crafts at the lowest possible prices for their potential customers.
“We’re going to have personalised, Christmas gifts for as little as a €1 and there will be a great variety of crafts here on the day,” said organising committee member, Renee McCarthy at the launch on Monday at the River Island Hotel.

“There will be a ‘Special River Island Hotel Lunch of the Day’ on offer for the duration.”

The Castleisland Christmas Craft Fair will be held in the River Island Hotel on Saturday, November 28th from 10-30am to 4-30pm. Admission is free and there will be a ‘Special River Island Hotel Lunch of the Day’ on offer for the duration.
Santa and his elves will attend and they have invited all the children of the area to post their letters to him on the day in the special postbox.
There will be raffles and face-painting / nail painting and lots of other events like that in the course of the day.

The charities chosen by the craft fair organising committee are: Castleisland Day Care Centre and Recovery Haven, Tralee.
Castleisland Day Care Centre

The centre has a number of aims and objectives, which are all centred around the older person.
These include: To present a respectful approach to the older people; To support the older person in the community in partnership with carer, families and H.S.E;
To provide a social outlet for older people in the community thus preventing loneliness;
To develop a forum to provide information for older people so that older people can make informed decisions in respect of their lifestyles and entitlements; To promote the health and social gain of older people;
To promote, provide and encourage activities which improves the lives of older people; To provide services such as mid-day meal, bathing, laundry, occupational therapy, physiotherapy nursing, and hairdressing. Recovery Haven, Tralee
Recovery Haven is a tranquil, peaceful and supportive place for people living with cancer to come to. There, in an atmosphere of strict confidentiality people can express their feelings and find comfort.
The visitors will initially be met by one of the trained listeners. For many just sitting and talking through it will be enough to ease the burden.
They may also like to sit in the garden and reflect or read – have a cup of tea. Should the need arise there is a fully qualified counselling service available – for a limited number of sessions – all free of charge. As well as this there are several complimentary therapists who have generously offered their services in-house, which visitors can avail of by appointment. Find out more about Recovery Haven here:
