Hugh Herlihy from Castleisland graduated recently with a Bachelor of Pharmacy Honours Degree from University College Cork. The ceremony was attended by Hugh’s parents, Paudie and Sheila and his sister Ide.
Hugh has taken up a post with Hickey’s Pharmacies at their Ballincollig shop in Cork. The company, which has a string of outlets throughout Ireland, was founded in 1995 by Ballymacelligott native, Paddy Hickey and he opened his first shop in the Northside Shopping Centre in Dublin 20 years ago.
Since then, the Hickey’s Pharmacies group has grown and expanded its range of services in response to changing needs.
Today, the group employs over 300 people in 28 outlets throughout the country. Hickey’s Pharmacies has seventeen outlets serving the greater Dublin area alone. It has four in Meath, three in Louth, two in Kildare, and one each in Cork and Wexford. Annual sales from these exceed €50 million.
“Over the coming years, we plan to further extend our branch network by opening new outlets or through acquisition, “ said Mr. Hickey in an interview on a company promotional video.
Hickey’s Pharmacies today play a vital and integral role in the communities they serve, working alongside GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Good luck to Hickey’s in their future business dealings and to Hugh Herlihy as he sets out on his career in the years ahead of him. You can catch up on the news on Hickey’s Pharmacies by clicking on the link here: http://www.hickeyspharmacies.ie/blog.1041.html
