“Today marked the beginning of ‘Snowed In’ at An Riocht with our Christmas Mega Sale. FIT16 is the plan for all at An Riocht. More people than ever are signing up to join in on the act. Record numbers have been committing to a year of fitness, even Santa himself has signed up and is looking forward to a reduced waistline for Christmas 2016,” said An Riocht AC manager, Kate McSweeney at the end of a busy day’s trading on Thursday night.

Range of People

“The amazing thing about the Mega Sale is the profile range of the people signing up. Locals and people from further afield are coming here for the unrivalled facilities we provide – including our state-of-the-art gym, leisure suite, ample parking spaces and of course our floodlit 400m athletics track,’ said Kate.
“We’re seeing students from 16 years of age up to the active retired of 80-plus years all coming with one agenda – and that’s to improve their lifestyle and get fit, healthy and happy in 2016,” she said.

Off to a Great Start

“Our ‘Snowed In’ programme of events has well and truly got off to a great start. Many of those who availed of the Mega Deal are returning with their kids on Friday and Saturday to meet our latest member, Santa himself.
Santa will be back with the Christmas Craft Fair on Friday from 3pm to 7-30pm and on Saturday from 12noon to 7-30pm. Santa didn’t really sign up – we signed him up and made him a present of the year’s membership. We just wanted to surprise him – for a change. And he has promised to put in a greater effort in the gym during the year,” said Kate.

Christmas Crackers

“I would also like to mention that ‘Snowed In’ would not have happened had it not been for the bunch of Christmas Crackers that are our wonderful staff here at An Riocht. They have been working on overdrive the past couple of weeks and stepped it up yet another gear today. Their spirit and enthusiasm has made the festive atmosphere here!!

“Oh, and it’s Radio Kerry Christmas Jumper Day tomorrow with donations going to St. Vincent de Paul. We encourage all members and visitors to throw on the most ridiculous, colourful jumper they have and we are not against decorating further with tinsel, baubles etc…..,” she concluded.

5K Run Rudolph Run on Sunday Morning

The week of festivities will be rounded off at An Riocht on Sunday morning with the annual 5K Run Rudolph Run Road Race which will get underway at 11am.
