The death has been announced of Brendan Leahy of Caherslee, Tralee.
The late Brendan and the Leahy family have strong connections with Castleisland as their father came from Kilally on the Tralee Road. The house was demolished at the time of the new road building in the early 2000s and it was occupied by Brendan’s aunt, Maggie Leahy-Deane and his uncle Jas up to the time of their deaths in the 1980s.
As late as last April, Brendan took a full and active part in the dramatisation of the crucifiction at the Church of Saints Stephen and John on Good Friday.
As features editor of The Kerryman, Brendan and I had regular telephone conversations and he kept a close eye on Castleisland and a hold on his connections to it. May God be good to him.
