Congratulations to Aoife Walsh from Ballinard, Cordal who lined out with Kerry playing in The Primary School at half-time in the Kerry-Clare match at Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday, June 12th.

Feile 2016

On the weekend of 24th June, one of the biggest GAA events of the year will be held in Kerry, West Limerick and North Cork, Feile 2016 is expected to bring 70,000 visitors to the area, with over 650 matches at Under 14’s level being played over the weekend.

Teams are coming to this event from several parts of the USA and England including a team from Brittany in France.

 Players from Dicksboro GAA from Kilkenny will hosted by the families of Cordal/Scartaglin and Glasgow Gaels from Scotland will be hosted by the families of Currow over the weekend. On Friday 24th Cordal/Scartaglin will play Currow in Cordal at 5.00pm and Glasgow Gaels at 7.15pm. Food will be served and a Disco will be held for the players and their families at the Heritage Centre in Scartaglen at 8.30pm.

 On Saturday 25th Cordal/Scartaglen will play Dicksboro GAA in Cordal at 11.00am. The footballing action then moves onto Na Gaeil pitch in Tralee with the final round of matches in Cordal/Scartaglin section of this massive event being played in Rathmore on Sunday 26th.

 Killarney is the place to be on Saturday evening where over 1000 children and their club supporters are expecting to take part in a parade through the town.  Be part of this festival of football by attending a match or the parade in Killarney.

 Under 14

 Cordal/Scartaglin hosted Ballymacelligott in Cordal in the Castleisland District League on Wednesday 8th. In what was a beautiful summeris evening the team played very well. Leading well at half-time, they played well to win on a score-line of Cordal/Scartaglin 6-15 to Ballymacelligott 3-03. The team travelled to Spa on Monday June 12th in an East Region League fixture. Cordal/Scartaglin won comfortably on a score-line of 5-19 to Spa 2-04. The team also played away to John Mitchel’s on Wednesday 14th in the Castleisland District League, full report on this match in the next week’s paper.

 Under 12

 Cordal Under 12s travelled to Annascaul/Lispole on Thursday 9th to play the Lee Strand County League.  A wet evening in Annascaul meant for difficult playing conditions, both teams served a very exciting game of football. The game finished honours even with both teams recording 5-11. The team also played Cromane in Cordal on Tuesday, July 14th. the home team being short some key players on the night played gallantly, however the visitors took the honours on the night.
