Members of Castleisland Graveyard Committee are organising a clean up on Tuesday evening, at 7pm at Maher’s side of Kilbannivane Cemetery.

Everybody welcome. Anybody with a grave that needs tending and, for any reason, needs help, please contact Jack on 087 81 22 668.

“We will do our best to assist. We are hoping to organise continuous improvements in all three Kilbannivane graveyards over a period of time,” said Jack Shanahan.

“This will require funding. All donations at the annual mass, on July 4th, will be gratefully received. We are also the beneficiaries of the Castleisland Races and would ask that you support this worthy venture by buying a ticket, in advance, for €5 from Haven Pharmacy Shanahans or any committee member,” said Mr. Shanahan.

The good news for the committee and, indeed, for family and friends of people buried in Maher’s side of Kilbannivane is that work to alleviate the winter-time flooding there looks realistically close to being tackled soon.

The culvert under the road at Tullig is to be done before the summer is out and it looks like the Kilbannivane flooding is pencilled in for August / September.
