Disciplined Defence

A feature of the second half was the outstanding disciplined defence employed by the Castleisland girls as they cleared their lines time and again despite intense Fossa pressure.
In goals for Desmonds was Sinead Murphy who never put a foot wrong and pulled off two great saves in the game.

The full back line was coolness personified with Katie O’Connor and Grace Curtin superb in the corners, while Jessie O’Doherty-Cahill was unbeatable at full back.

In the half back line Ava Fitzmaurice and Abbey Brosnan didn’t give their opponents an inch, while Gemma Kearney at centre half back showed her inter county class by driving forward and breaking up Fossa attacks at every opportunity.

Midfield Exchanges

Aoife Lane and Paris McCarthy ruled the midfield exchanges and worked themselves to a standstill. The movement by the forwards was superb on Sunday.

In the half forward line, Marney Horan and Ruth Cahill showed some beautiful touches on the wings while Sabhdh Prendiville used her speed to devastating effect throughout.

The full forward line of the captain, Aine Sheehan and Lillie Cox in the corners were unbeatable with Emma O’Regan at full forward a thorn in the Fossa side all evening long.

Substitutes: Aisling Kearney, Ciara McCarthy and Chloe Cahill all came on and played a major part in the Desmonds victory.
