Since last Wednesday, August 3rd the National Processing Unit for Medical Cards has crashed and failed due to technical difficulties.
According to Kerry TD Michael Healy Rae, the breakdown has left applicants in a situation where they cannot receive updates.
It also means that cards have not been issued since Wednesday.
“It is envisaged and hoped that it will be up and running tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9th as it is causing awful distress – and particularly to sick people who are wondering why their cards are not being processed,” said Deputy Healy Rae.
