Young basketball fans will have a unique opportunity to upgrade their skills during the Halloween mid-term break as The Wild Atlantic Basketball Camp is coming to Castleisland.

The camp will take place from November 1st to 3rd and will have two sessions daily.

The morning session will run from 9am-12 noon and will cater for children aged eight to 12 while the afternoon session runs from 1pm to 4pm and is specifically for those aged 13 to 18.

National League Coach

The camp coaches are Paudie Fleming and Pat Price. Paudie, a former underage Irish International player, is the assistant coach for the Ireland U-16 men’s squad. He has played National league and has coached with his club St. Mary’s from U-14 to senior levels.

He is also the assistant coach with Keane’s Supervalu Killorglin National League side. Coach Fleming is very excited about the camp and sees it as an opportunity for those who want to improve their game.

The Next Level

“Basketball has always been a big part of my life both as a player and now as a coach,” said Paudie.

“It has always been an ambition of mine to run a camp in Castleisland. This promises to be a huge opportunity for ambitious young players who want to take their game to the next level. It is a privilege to be able to run this camp with such a renowned coach as Pat Price,” he said.

Pat Price is a household name to basketball fans the length and breadth of the country.

Senior International Level

Now living in Kinsale, Price is head coach for the Ireland U-16 men’s team, he is a former NCAA coach, a multiple Super League and cup winning coach with Blue Demons and Neptune – and has also previously coached at senior international level with Ireland. The camp will offer group skills, mini games, scrimmages and contests and each participant will receive a Wild Atlantic Basketball Camp tee-shirt.

Camp registration fee, including camper t-shirt, is €50.

Pre-registration is recommended as places are limited. Bookings can be made by contacting Paudie Fleming on 087 61 21 450 or by email: wildatlanticbasketball@gmail.com
