Approximately 60 republicans from the Short Strand area of Belfast are to visit Kerry this weekend to honour the three men who lost their lives at Ballykissane Pier on Good Friday morning 1916.

They include members of Volunteer Charlie Monahans family who drowned alongside his comrades Donal Sheehan and Con Keating.

The three day visit will include visits to Caherciveen, Killorglin and Banna Strand.

The highlight of the visit will be on Saturday at 4.30pm, at Ballykissane Pier in Killorglin where there will be a short ceremony and speakers will include:  Deputy Martin Ferris, Senator Niall O’Donnghaile and Cllr. Damian Quigg.

The group will stay in Killarney for the three day visit where they will be joined by members of Sinn Féin Kerry at a function in the Towers Hotel on Saturday night.
