We travelled to Castleisland to take part in an U-15 super touch competition run by the County Board for the Castleisland District Clubs. On the day only Ballymac and Castleisland Desmonds took part in the competition.

The game was played in wonderful sunshine with Ballymac getting off to a great start and racing into a six-point lead. Castleisland got moving at this stage and by half time they were leading by one point.

The second half was a real cracker with both teams matching each other for scores. With one minute gone in injury time Ballymac got the equalising point to force extra time.

Things didn’t go our way in extra time against a much physically stronger Desmond’s team who ran out convincing winners.

We would like to wish Brian Cassidy a speedy recovery after picking up an injury on the day. Thanks also to Micheal Quirke for organising this competition and to all the players who attended, and our selectors Stephen O’Brien, Jack Culloty and Jerh Lynch

Our final session of the year took place last Sunday the 30th of October when we welcomed Glanmire, Cork and Kerins O’Rahilly’s to Ballymac for challenge games.

We had great games on the day and we would like to thanks both our visiting clubs. A great way to conclude the season.

On behalf of the committee of Ballymac Coiste Na n’Og many thanks to all the parents and players for making 2016 a great year for both the boys and girls clubs.

Tralee CBS U-15 Team

Well done to Ballymac players Dylan Dunne-Moriarty, Darragh Leen and Darragh Broderick who were part of the Tralee CBS Squad which qualified for the Munster Colleges U-15 A Final with a victory over Rochestown College. They now face old rivals St. Brendan’s, Killarney in the Final due to be played in mid November.

Cailini Faoi 16 Year Review

We completed in Division 4 of the Co League and Division 3 of North Kerry Board competitions. Due to Aisling O’Connells involvement with the Kerry U-14 squad her participation with our U-16 team was curtailed till late in the year .
April 6th.

We kicked off with a home game v Glenflesk  and came out on top on an unusual scoreline of 4-1 to 3-1, Ellie McElligott getting a hat trick on the night .
April 11th.

Away to Moyvane we drew 1-3 to 0-6 , Cait Rice getting our goal on the night , Micheala Murphy and Rachel Godley getting our points
April 28th.

At home v Abbeydorney won 2-8 to 2-3 , a win that was long overdue . The club’s first competitive victory over Abbeydorney was really enjoyed by players and management. Michaela Murphy and Rose Anne O’Shea goal scorers on the night. Mary Healy and Áine Rice played well on the night .
May 11th.

Away to Duagh we lost 3-12 to 2-6 , missing a few regulars we went down to a much stronger and determined Duagh team.
Kerins O Rahillys failed to field a team for our final group game so we got the points ensuring that we qualified for a semi final spot with home venue
The semi final was played after the exams & summer break on the 4th August , during the summer we gained 2 new players in Lucy Murphy & Maeve Pierce who were welcome and valued additions however they were on holidays for the semi final . We trained regularly during the summer in preparation for the semi final v Duagh however on the day we failed to perform half time had us down 2-4 to 0-2 . An improved 2nd half saw us score 2-2 but went down 2-4 to 4-5.
North Kerry Board  Division 3. September 2nd.
We played Dingle /Castlegregory  1-8 to 2-7 , a really good game of football against a Division 3 co league team.

Niamh and Aisling played very well at midfield. Lucy and Maeve Pierce showed their value to the team. Tara and Micheala played well in defence on the night. Failure to convert all our chances cost us
September 11th.

Away to KOR an easy 2-12 to 1-2 followed and we had qualified for the Shield final against Duagh again with Dingle /Castlegregory v Moyvane qualifying for the League Final
September 26th.
Again we faced Duagh at home in Ballymac and this time we really put it up to them. The girls put in a brilliant performance on the night and were very unlucky to lose 4-8 to 4-6 .
Panel : Robyn White, Tara Murphy, Claire Kenny, Michela Murphy, Caoimhe Carroll, Leah O’Neill, Rose Anne O’Shea , Maeve O’Sullivan , Aisling O’Connell , Niamh Rahilly, Maeve Pierce, Aine Rice, Mary Healy, Lucy Murphy, Therese Keane, Rachel Godley, Heather Jones, Emily O’ Donoghue, Lisa Curran, Elle McElligott, Cait Rice, Eve Creedon and Elle Sugrue.
A panel of 23 was a fantastic turnout and this group are the trailblazers for Ballymac Ladies Club and they are a great bunch of girls to work with.

Great attitude. They get loads of knock backs but they keep turning up very willingly to put that blue jersey on.

With 10 of this team moving onto senior football we hope to create more history for the ladies club by fielding a first ever Senior Ladies team in the KLGFA co league and junior championship in 2017.

Training has begun already and the response has been very positive. Terence O’Connor is doing core and fitness sessions every Sunday at 6.30pm to 7.30 pm for this group.

This will continue till December and the plan is to begin again in February 2017.

Anybody interested in playing or helping out with the ladies club in 2017 can call Donal O’Rahilly on 087 61 739 12, Anthony Curran 087 27 135 07, James Godley 087 61 741 45 or Teddy Murphy 087 95 563 42.

Ballymacelligott Handball Club would like to thank everyone that contributed so generously to their Church gate collection last weekend.

To facilitate further work being carried out on the small alley it will be completely closed from Monday  November 7th until Sunday November 13th.
We regret any inconvenience this short closed period will cause but it will result in better overall conditions in the alley.
Juvenile training continues as usual on Monday nights at 8.00 pm.
