At the recent AGM of the Castleisland Branch of Kerry Hospice Foundation members heard that a total of €20,126.00 had been raised locally over 2016.

This figure was transferred to the foundation. Chairman, Jack Shanahan highlighted the importance of fundraising in the area. He encouraged members to get the word out that the branch would welcome the support of any groups considering fundraising.

Officers Elected

The following officers were elected on the night: Chairman: Jack Shanahan; Vice Chairperson: Eileen Murphy; Treasurer: Marian O’Connor; Assistant Treasurer: Catherine Horan; Secretary/PR: Liz Galwey; Entertainment: Eileen McCarthy; Committee members: Kathleen Griffin, Nora Nolan, Audrey O’Sullivan, Tess Fitzgerald, Noreen O’Callaghan and Anne Marie O’Connell.

Other Branch News

In other branch news: the annual Good Friday morning walk could be in for a revamp – or, God forgive me, a resurrection.

A new route and the possible inclusion of a fun-run along with the long established walk are being considered. These as a means of breathing new life into the event – which first saw the light of day at the dawn of the final decade of the last century.

Here too, people with brainwaves and fundraising ideas would be very welcome to get involved. There will be more as the time draws nears. Jack Shanahan at Haven Pharmacy would be glad to hear of your fundraising ideas and initiatives at: 066 71 41125.
