Castleisland Community College and Castleisland AFC will hold a Public Information Night at the River Island Hotel tonight, Thursday, February 16th between 8-9pm.

The purpose of the event is to inform people on the proposed development of the planned, all-weather playing pitch at the rear of the college buildings. The proposed development is a joint venture between the college and the club and both will have full access to facilitate its playing and training schedules.

Principal and Chairman to Attend

College Principal, Carmel Kelly and Castleisland AFC Chairman, Patrick O’Rourke along with officials of the Kerry District League will attend the meeting.

The announcement of the development, early last week, was widely welcomed from several points of view.

The facility, along with serving the needs of the college and the club, is expected to be in great demand for local GAA and soccer clubs for winter training.

Half Way There

At that February 6th press launch we learned that the process was just about half way there as negotiations have been ongoing since January 2016.

Depending on how the fundraising process goes over the next couple of months, the combined hope of the club and the college is that the summer of 2018 would see the facility coming into play.

Members of the public, sports club representatives from this and neighbouring parishes are being invited to tonight’s hour-long ‘Public Information Night’ at the River Island Hotel.

Castleisland AFC has also announced that it is to host Lip Sync Battle Castleisland and this fundraiser will take place on Friday March 31st 2017 in Castleisland Community Centre.

It’s promising to be a night to remember alongside last year’s Strictly Come Dancing and The Brawl in the Hall extravaganzas – which were outstanding community based successes.

Very Entertaining Night

Castleisland AFC is promising a very entertaining night with between 13-15 acts battling it out to be the number one.

The event is being handled by a professional company for the club and, apart from the built in and inevitable fun involved, patrons can expect a thoroughly polished stage show on the night.
Ticket information and details of the acts will be released in the coming weeks.
A full bar service will operate on the night and the event will be followed by a disco into the late hours.
