Kerry Women Writers’ Network is delighted to announce an evening with actress and author, Mary McEvoy.

Ms. McEvoy, who is synonymous with the role of Biddy in Glenroe, will be at the Meadowlands Hotel, Tralee on Saturday, May 13th at 5pm.

Kerry Women Writers’ Network was founded in 2015 to promote women writers and women’s writing in Kerry. The network delves into the history of writing in Kerry and to promote the forgotten writings of women in Kerry.

Readings and Conversations

This is the first event of the KWWN’s 2017 programme. Entitled Aireach 2017 – Aireach is the Irish for mindful – it is a series of readings and conversations which draws on the theme of Mindfulness and the Written Word.

Mary will draw on her own life experiences as an actress both of stage and screen and read from her books, Ordinary Beauty and How the Light Gets In.

Fearless and Imaginative

In 2016 KWWN’s 1916 Symposium – Fearless and Imaginative: Women and Writing and Responses to the Rising proved an unprecedented success.

Aireach 2017 is the network’s response to the Creative Ireland Initiative and the cultural, social, historical, emotional and psychological ties to writing and literature.

Admission at the door is €10 and refreshments will be served.

On the night, KWWN will announce the group’s plans for its proposed 2018 publication, Kerry: Women and Writing.
