Con Curtin Festival 2017 Details Launched

Details have been released of the 2017 Con Curtin Music Festival in Brosna Village. The village will be a hive of music related activity from June 23rd -25th this year in honour of the late, great Sliabh Luachra fiddler.

The festival will get underway on Friday night June 23rd with a top class traditional concert at 8pm. Renowned group Raw Bar Collective will be joined by Waterford based singer Ciarán Ó Gealbháin.

All-Ireland Champions

This is a concert not to be missed as supporting acts on the night will include reigning All Ireland Senior Banjo and Fiddle champions, Gearóid and Darragh Curtin with Billy O’Brien and John Murphy who will tell a few stories on the night.

Saturday the 24th will be a busy day with music workshops taking place with top class tutors, from 11am to 2.30pm.

Array of Recitals

Later on Saturday afternoon music enthusiasts will be treated to an array of recitals starting from 3pm and running until 7pm.

Liam and Paudie O Connor kick off the recitals at 3pm in Kate Pats Bar, followed by Mairead Hurley, John Blake and Jacqui Martin at 4pm in the Sportsfield Bar.

The Three Counties Bar will be a fiddler’s haven at 5pm for the annual fiddle recital. The local church will be the venue for the traditional mass at 8pm Saturday evening.

Sunday will be a great family day with busking competitions for U-9, U-12 and U-15 starting at 1.30pm in the village square. Then the mighty Stríolan Céilí Band will start the céilí at 3pm in Halla Na Féile. A pub trail including the best of traditional music runs all across the weekend.
