O’Shea’s Bar in Milltown will host a table quiz with a difference on this Friday night, January 5th. The quiz is the latest in a series of fundraisers for Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí 2018 which will take place in Milltown in June.

The local branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann is running a quiz league locally called ‘Brains of the Parish.’

Phones Allowed

At this Friday night’s quiz, participants will be allowed to use their phones and ‘Google’ to their heart’s content.

The table quiz will take place on Friday, 5 January at 8.00pm and anyone looking to blow away the Christmas cobwebs and get their brains back in gear for the New Year are welcome to take part.

“Sometimes at a table quiz, the answer is on the tip of your tongue and you’d love to use Google to find the answer. Well at this quiz, you can use Google or phone a friend as often as you like,” said Fleadh 2018 chairman and quiz-master, Owen O’Shea.

What Google Can’t Tell You

“You’d be surprised what Google can’t tell you, though, and you can’t find an answer to every question on the internet,” he said.

There will be a wide variety of questions on the night and plenty of surprises along the way. Teams of four can enter for €40 and there will be spot prizes and plenty of entertainment on the night. So, make sure your phone is charged and topped up and head to O’Shea’s, Milltown on Friday night next.

Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí takes place in Milltown from 20th to 24th of June 2018 and five days and nights of top-quality traditional music and entertainment are assured.

This mobile phone / phone a friend thing will probably catch on like the proverbial wildfire and breath new life into the old table quiz.
