The family of Eamon Sheehy has issued a short statement this afternoon in which they wish to acknowledge the genuine expressions of goodwill, prayers and messages they’ve been getting since they were plunged into the surreal situation they found themselves in just two weeks ago on this Sunday morning.

Eamon was assaulted near his house in St. Stephen’s Park just before dawn on Sunday, January 14th. last.

A  Warm Acknowledgement

Idle and uninformed speculation on Eamon’s state of health in national and  local media has not been helpful to the family in the midst of the distress they’re now going through.

The statement issued is a warm acknowledgement of the outpouring of goodwill towards them from neighbours and friends in Castleisland and well beyond.

Gardai are still investigating the assault and one local man has been charged in connection with the incident. The Garda Confidential Line is: 1800 666 111

The statement is as follows:

Dear John,

“Eamon is getting the best medical care and support available from day one. All the Sheehy family members are comforted by the people of Castleisland and their concerns, wishes, thoughts and prayers.

“We would like to ask the good people of the town and surrounding areas to continue their prayers to the Almighty God on behalf of Eamon and to thank them again for their good wishes during these difficult times.”
