Volunteers Wanted for the Passion and Death of Christ

For the second, successive year, Jerome Stack has gone from the frying pan to the fire in terms of major local productions.

He has just put the 31st Kerry Drama Festival behind him and now he’s into the production of Castleisland’s Good Friday Passion Play.

Appeal for Volunteers

On that note, Jerome is putting out an appeal for volunteers to flesh out the biblical cast demanded of such a production. Meetings are being held at the Church of Saints Stephen and John these nights from 8pm – depending on the arrival time of a local funeral – and again at 7:30 tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 20th.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the Good Friday Passion Play is invited to one of these meeting.

Expressions of Interest

The organisers will be looking for expressions of interest from actors,  actresses, singers and musicians willing to get involved in the cast ahead of the play at the Church of Saints Stephen and John on Good Friday.

Likely candidates of all ages, from this and neighbouring parishes, will all be welcome to get involved in the staging of the colourful spectacle in the ideal settings of the local parish church.

Local Village Groups

Actors from all the local village groups in the area will be especially wellcome as will those who’d be more comfortable in the crowd scenes.

It will be a wonderful mix of drama and music with the substantial backing of the Castleisland Parish Choir in its portrayal of the greatest story ever told.

Instigation of Fr. Dan

It was at the instigation of Monsignor ‘Fr. Dan’ O’Riordan in 2015 that the Tralee based St. John’s Liturgy Drama Group travelled with costumes and props to Castleisland on Good Friday night that and the following year for their 8pm shows here and this was after their Tralee performances at 3pm.

The shows were billed as ‘A Solemn Celebration of the Passion and Death of Christ’ – with musicians, singers and a 30 plus strong cast of actors in costume.
