Kerry Sinn Féin TD, Martin Ferris has called on the HSE and the Minister for Health Simon Harris to explain reports that the cardiologist at University Hospital Kerry has resigned.
Very Concerned

“I am very concerned at the implications that the part time cardiologist, at University Hospital Kerry has resigned,” said Deputy Feris.

Extremely Anxious

“Patients in Kerry are extremely anxious that they will have to rely on Cork and Limerick hospitals for cover once more. This resignation comes on top of other future rumoured resignations at the hospital.

Long Waiting Times

“There are long waiting times and the three-and-a-half day blood test service for GPs, with the lab being totally closed on Fridays. Having to rely on a cardiologist visiting Cork once a week is totally unacceptable.”
Calling on Minister Harris
“I am calling on the Minister to address this issue immediately and to reassure the staff and patients of University Hospital Kerry that every effort is being made to fill this vacancy forthwith,” Deputy Ferris concluded.
