There aren’t too many local people who can say that they’ve scored a handful of international tries for their country.

How many can say that they’ve captained their country in the cauldron of Six Nations Championship fare ?

A local woman who has done it all will be honoured at Castleisland Rugby Club on Friday night at 9pm and all are welcome.

Role Taken Seriously

Ciara Griffin was named as the Irish Women’s Rugby Captain last January and it’s a role the UL Bohemians and Munster flanker has taken very seriously and fully appreciates the honour involved.

Ciara Griffin made her international debut against Wales only in 2016 but she has been capped for Ireland over 20 times since.

Ciara Stood Out
In her praise, Irish Women’s head coach, Adam Griggs said that having watched all of the interprovincial games, as well as reviewing Ireland’s games from the past couple of seasons, Ciara stood out for him as a natural leader.
Hugely Passionate
“What’s clear to me is that she is hugely passionate about pulling on the red jersey of Munster and the green jersey of Ireland and every time she takes the field, not only does she give everything she has, she also has the ability to help others lift their game when needed,” said Coach Griggs.

Star on the Scene

Castleisland Rugby Club Chairman, Dan Casey said the club is delighted to have another star on the Irish rugby scene to celebrate.

“These occasions don’t come around too often and the Irish team captaincy is a huge honour for Ciara and we thought we shouldn’t let it go too long before we celebrate her achievements. We’d love to see as many people as possible there on Friday night,” said Dan.
