Scartaglen made it two wins out of two in the county league with a commanding win away to Kilgarvan. The first half belonged to the away side as they dominated the scoreboard and adapted well to the underfoot conditions. In the first 15 minutes Scartaglen led by 1-3 to no score.

Accounts Opened

Eddie Horan registered his first two scores of the afternoon in the sixth and eighth minutes.

Mike Coakley opened his account in the 12th minute following good work by Brian Hanrahan and Shay Walsh.

Brian Hanrahan scored the first of Scartaglen’s six goals in the 15-minute following a lay off by Pa Rahilly.

Pa was soon in the thick of the action scoring 1-1 in quick succession to leave the scoreboard reading 2-4 to Kilgarvan’s 0-1.

White Flags Raised

The Kilgarvan point came from Patrick O’Shea in the 16th minute from a placed ball. Kilgarvan would go on to register just one more point in the first half, Patrick O’Shea again raising the white flag from a placed ball in the 28 minute.

Half-Time Score

Eddie scored a further 1-1 in the remainder of the first half along with a Hugh O’Connor point to leave the halftime score reading Scartaglen 4-6 Kilgarvan 0-2.
Conditions worsened in the second half as rain from the first half persisted for the remainder of the game making it difficult for football.

This didn’t stop Kilgarvan as they came out with renewed hope scoring 2-2 within the first five minutes of the second half.

Brace of Goals

Sean Godfrey bagging a brace of goals with Patrick O’Shea adding his third point of the afternoon, with Christopher Creedon also scoring his first point in the 35 minute.

The scoreline now read Scartaglen 4- 6 – Kilgarvan 2- 4.

Kilgarvan’s hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as Scartaglen scored two goals in quick succession.

Shay Walsh with two quickfire goals. His first from Eddie Horan’s attempt for a goal saved by the keeper with Shay on hand to tap in the rebound. Eddie scored a point in between to leave the scoreline reading after 42 minutes Scartaglen 6- 8 to Kilgarvan 2- 4.
