Family week is a bi annual event at Castleisland Day Care Centre which celebrates the extended family of the elderly clients there.

During an open week family members are invited to the centre to give them the opportunity to experience what their parents, grandparents or even great grandparents are ‘up to’ while attending.

All Age Participation

“This week is also an opportunity for staff members to meet the extended family of clients and is an excellent example of different generations enjoying activities to suit all ages with the emphasis on participation and fun,” said Nurse Manager, Marcella Finn.

Entertaining Show

“The main attraction during the week was local magician Sylvano who kept both adults and children enthralled every morning with his very entertaining show.

Very Memorable Week

“During the afternoons, local artist, Breda Galwey encouraged both generations to work together producing art pieces which will be lovely keepsakes of a very memorable week,” said Ms. Finn.

The Maine Valley Post has, is and always will be a free resource for the people of the locality and its wider diaspora.

When we started in 2013, the intention was to be a weekly, online newsletter. Over time, the site has evolved into a much different beast with multiple updates on a daily basis.
Because of its nature as a digital publication, it brings with it certain expenses: computers and cameras that require updating and maintenance; internet hosting and access; to say nothing of the time and hard work that goes into the site. It all adds up…
Our online community has always been our greatest asset and a vocal supporter of the Maine Valley Post since day one.
