Members of Castleisland Community College Student Council were delighted to be presented with the Ambassador Schools Status for their work with positive mental health issues at the college.

The presentation was made at The Kings Inn in Dublin last week.

Students, Grainne Spillane and Konrad Kloskowski were accompanied by Link teacher, Juanita Lovett as they accepted the award on behalf of the college and its council.

Mental Health in School Plan

“This is a huge honour for the school as the Ambassador Programme provides a framework for schools to integrate mental health activities into their daily plan – and it rewards schools like ours who go the extra mile,” said Ms. Lovett.

“It includes activities like our Mental Health Week, our Daisy Room as well as our comprehensive First Year Induction Programme.

OK to Ask for Help

“The award was granted to us in recognition of all the work we did last year to promote positive mental health in our school community.

“The promotion also helped to get across the message: It’s OK not to feel OK; and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help,”  Ms. Lovett concluded.
