An Ríocht AC Autumn 5K Road Race Series Well Supported

The popular, autumn 3 x 5K series of road races returned to An Riocht in Castleisland on 29th August and ran for three Friday evenings since.

There was a fantastic attendance on all three nights with big numbers turning out to compete.

Very Well Supported

“People came from all corners of the county and beyond and the events were very well supported by our own local athletic club members,” said An Riocht Athletic Club Manager, Hazel Byrne.

“There was a fantastic atmosphere with people who took part for the first time along with the more serious athletes who participated.

Standard of Running

“There was an excellent standard of running with the series being won by Donal White who had a very impressive time of 16 minutes.

“The overall winner of the senior women was Sharon Cahill, An Riocht. Tullamore Harriers athlete Jim Langan is aged 70 + vat came all the way from Co. Offaly on all three nights to compete.

“Tea, coffee and refreshments were provided for all athletes and spectators on all three nights with hot scones being served on the last night as a special treat.

Support Appreciated

“Well done to all who participated in this event and hope to see you all back again next year.

“The club really appreciates all your support and extends a huge thank you to all who supported us. “An Riocht would like to thank all the staff of the club and all the volunteers who helped out at this event on all three nights, your help was very much appreciated,” said Ms. Byrne in conclusion.
